Rdio.com: The Pandora Killer
Every once in a while something comes along that changes the game. Today, it’s rdio.com. It’s an online jukebox/radio station/community/recommendation engine.
Here’s the killer part: you can listen to entire albums.
You can choose which songs you want to hear from a particular artist. No more “similar to” songs, no more lack of control. You can create playlists, put favorite songs in collections, download/purchase songs you like. It’s everything Pandora wants to be when it grows up. (Dear Pandora, I still love you, you were my first. I just want to spent my time with Rdio now.)
Sure, they don’t have every song ever recorded, but that’s about the only criticism a reasonable human being could leverage against them.
There’s a two week trail period then it’s five bucks a month. After my trial I was begging them to take my money so I could keep using the service. I’m just using the basic web browser service, but for a ten spot a month you can sync the account to your smartphone.
Rdio.com is changing my life, specifically the part of my day when I’m listening to music while working (which is about 6 hours a day).
PS. I’m listening to the Mumford & Sons album while writing this post.
